We sold our house in Nashville (Bellevue) just as the pandemic hit in March 2020 and travelled across the US and Canada, meeting up with friends and family along the way. Lumber prices had gone through the roof so we were on the road for nearly four years and before we returned to the Nashville area to build a new “sticks and bricks” home just west of Nashville.

A quick summary of our adventures: Our original plan (Plan A) was to leave Nashville after the house sold in March of 2020 – go East and then north and thru Canada – then down the west coast of the US. COVID changed that – Canada was not open due to COVID! We had thought we would be on the road for 2 years, but the price of lumber had skyrocketed, so we stayed on the road!

Plan B was next – (north from Nashville to Minnesota – then west to Washington State, down the west coast, then east, stopping in Baton Rouge for Thanksgiving, on to Florida for the winter, up to Nashville for Easter 2021 and to get our COVID vaccination) — we were hoping to caravan with Passport America thru Canada and up to Alaska during summer of 2021, but Canada was STILL off limits due to COVID and the caravan to Alaska for 2021 had been cancelled!

So Plan A and B are out the window; so on to “Plan C” …. we headed East and up into New England after Easter, had a 2 week stop in the Nashville area in July where Jim came out of retirement to work – and headed to Michigan for a while, seeking out cooler weather during the summer. Back to Nashville for Thanksgiving time and returned to Florida like snowbirds — for the winter. We were finally able to go on the caravan during the summer of 2022! We travelled thru Western Canada and on to Alaska.

We have visited all of the 49 states that we can drive to as well as 5 Canadian Provinces. We wintered (23-24) in Florida for our 4th time, enjoying the warmer weather! March 2024 we got back to the Nashville area for Easter 2024, finished building our new home and moved in June 2024.

So many gorgeous places we have seen in this beautiful country! We have taken lots of photos, rolled thousands of miles in Acey (our motorhome) and on Thor (the Jeep we tow behind Acey), accumulated grocery store reward cards, gotten many stamps in our National Parks Passport, bicycled over 3,000 miles, wandered around State and National Parks, visited many friends and relatives, enjoyed beer at multiple breweries, paid lots of tolls, walked on several beaches, learned a variety of history lessons… Lord willing, we hope to continue exploring the USA and Canada living in Acey and piling more miles on Thor.
