We left Diamond Caverns RV Park at 8:15 on Monday April 26, 2021. Acey’s mileage was at 71,756.5, and Thor has 83,384. We stopped for fuel Caryville, TN (our first fuel stop since March 23) and made lunch. Acey’s mileage was 71,945.1 – so we are 10 miles past 10,000 miles since we started out last year. (Acey had 61,935.5 miles when we left Nashville on May 27, 2020)
We arrived at Lakeview RV Park at 4pm; we will stay just 3 nights. We had both thought “Bluff City” referred to Memphis, but this city is in east Tennessee, not far from Johnson City.
The park has a few cabins to rent and 160 sites – and located just 3 miles from Bristol Motor Speedway.
On Tuesday, we headed south, almost to North Carolina to ride our bikes on the Erwin Linear Trail. AllTrails had mentioned several bridges were out on this trail, but Linda called and found out they had all been repaired – and there were a LOT of little bridges on this paved trail that follows along North Indian Creek and the Nolichucky River.
This trail was rated “easy” which was good, since we have not done a lot of riding lately. We rode 8.52 miles.
We rewarded ourselves with a stop at the Yee Haw Brewery in Johnson City – they have a very tasty Dunkel!
After lunch on Wednesday, we drove north to the Kingsport Greenway Trail, almost into Virginia. It was another beautiful sunny day to be out getting some exercise!
This “moderate” trail follows the South Fork of the Holston River and Reedy Creek.
The trail was in very good shape, except for about 1/4 mile detour on a gravel path.
Along the way, we saw geese, ducks, squirrels and a few lizards
…and a couple of little waterfalls
We rode a total of 17.25 miles. On our way home, we saw this butterfly on a wall…
After dinner, we made a few preparations for our departure for Asheville, NC in the morning.
